Laughter Yoga is a unique method, which is spreading rapidly in the world, where everyone can laugh without jokes, without humor and comic gags, in short, it is a revolutionary method to LAUGH WITHOUT REASON. We laugh as a form of exercise, but quickly we get to produce a real laugh through eye contact and the playfulness and joy typical of children. The reason why it is called Laughter Yoga is because yoga breathing exercises (which come from Pranayama) are combined with laughter exercises. This increases the oxygen reserves in the body and brain making us feel more energetic and healthy. Laughter Yoga is based on the scientific fact that the body does not feel the difference between a real laugh and an induced laugh (if done voluntarily) and yes they produce the same benefits both physiologically and psychologically. Laughter Yoga was developed by an Indian doctor, Dr. Madan Kataria, starting with 5 people in a park in Mumbai in 1995, and quickly spread throughout the world, currently counting thousands of laughter clubs in over 65 countries of the world.
Dr. Kataria carries out an important pacifist message, he states that:
“LAUGHING knows no boundaries, makes no distinction of race, religious belief or color and it is an UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE that can unify the world”
The fundamental purpose of the YdR is to produce WELLNESS by laughing, according to the old proverb that “Laughing makes good blood” and the well-known adage that “Laughing is the best medicine” (the one that inspired Dr. Kataria in developing the method).

After having traveled a lot and discovered different healing methods, such as Shiatsu and Shamanism, and having worked as an animator in the circus for children and as educator for immigrants and the disabile people, I felt the need to find a way to give the tools to get closer to your own inner child. After all these experiences I realized that we are our own doctors. We have so many resources like breathing or conscious movement to be able to heal some of our illnesses. When I first heard about Laughter Yoga I immediately understood that laughter is a fantastic tool to be able to induce. I then followed a Laughter Yoga leader training course with the “Italian Laughter Yoga Association” which allows me to share with people how to raise joy through laughter in order to become a lifestyle. Become again to play like children, this is the true secret of wellness!
